PAST EVENTS

  • April 27, 2008

    • A representative from Everybody Eats and the Grainless Baker hosted a gluten-free taste testing at the Bear Library. The pictures of the food you see above are from the vendor's catalog, and the food was just as delicious as it looks here!

  • March 2nd, 2008

    • Snacks for this meeting were donated by Mona's Health Food (located at the intersection of Marsh Road and Silverside Road in Wilmington). Group business cards were passed out - if you are interested in receiving business cards (to bring to your doctor, friends, stores), please contact us. A demonstration of how to use and access the yahoo groups page was put on the projector screen, along with some gluten-free news clips, and a product sheet was passed around for interest in a group buying program to purchase discounted gluten-free food.

  • Jan 26th, 2008

    • Our annual post-holiday potluck saw some of the most delicious gluten-free desserts ever known, thanks to the culinary talents of some of our members. Corn bread, chili, soups, dips, macaroons, pizelles, and some pasta dishes (all gluten free, of course!) were among the other dishes that rounded out the evening. For those that couldn't make it, we will probably be having another gluten-free potluck in May. Thank you to Sandra for hosting!

  • Dec 16, 2007

    • Meeting at the Newark Co-op on Main Street.

  • Nov 4th, 2007

    • We had many new snacks brought in to share and an update from some gluten-free conferences and vendors come in. We also started planning our Holiday Potluck!

  • Sept 16th, 2007

    • A delicious "I can't believe it's not gluten" potluck! We also welcomed two new members and discussed some new gf products and restaurant options.

  • July 1st, 2007

    • We had perfect weather for our summer barbecue. Delicious homemade gluten-free brownies, pasta dishes, hunter's stew, coconut cookies, and plenty of chips, dips, and fruits. We also introduced the Gluten Free Restaurant Awareness Program and assigned our first restaurants. Thank you to all who made it a success!

  • June 3rd, 2007

    • We had an excellent discussion on tips for dealing with episodes if unexpected gluten contamination occurs. We also shared gluten-free snacks from Sorella Bakery, the Grainless Baker, and even some Mr. Ritt's. We also welcomed two new members to the group - meeting minutes sections to be coming soon!

  • May 6, 2007

    • One of our members agreed to look into the possibilities of doing a Celiac-related presentation to local doctors, and we will be following this up with interest in future months! We also discussed a possible different meeting date, instead of the first Sunday of the month at 3pm, and ways of getting word about the group out. One of our members also gave a fascinating account of a Celiac conference in Annapolis, Maryland, and we welcomed 3 new members at the meeting!

  • April 1, 2007

    • Very successful meeting and trip to Cheeseburger in Paradise for a gluten-free early dinner. No contamination or gluten incidents reported, not too expensive and still delicious!
